GEOLOGY AS A CAREER OPTION

 INTRODUCTION

Hello everyone 

Here I am sharing you the problem and confusion I go though while selecting my career. In this blog I will share my experience while choosing my career in geology. I am going to tell you the pros and cons of the subject and I will also share some tips with you.

PERSONAL EXPERIENCE

After completing my HSC from science background there was a huge question behind me, what should I do next?I was not interested in medical or engineering. Like every other child I also want to do some thing different. So my brother suggested me the subject geology in which I can complete my graduation,

 I always want to do something adventurous. I search a lot about it. I search every web gathered lots of information. 

But the expectation is lot more different than the reality.

 for e.g.

 You think  you are going to study mountains but actually you have to study  folds faults fractures and entire structural geology.

PERSONAL OPINION

Geology is a very nice subject . 

In this basically you are going to study about formation of solar system,

 

formation of earth,

 how mountains are formed

 introduction on various types of rocks and mineral,

 how metals are extracted from ores, how we extract petroleum, where should we make dug wells , remote sensing. 

PERSONAL ADVISE

• As soon as your HSC exams are completed do not waste your time, sort different colleges where you want admission.
• Know the admission process of your sorted college weather they are taking entrance exam or percent based admissions.
• In BSc do not take the subject group with the subject computer, If you want to further admission in MSc at IITs you can face different problems in admission.  

JOB OPPORTUNITY

• After completing MSc in geology you are eligible for UPSC specialization in geology which is conducted by GSI and all are class-I post.
• After completing your masters you are eligible for GATE examination, If you got a rank in it the companies like ONGC and other high profile companies will directly hire you.
• After qualifying in CSIR-NET examination you are eligible for lectureship in various colleges. If you are a ranker then you are paid 31,000/- per month just to compete your project.
• mining sector are open for you
• other private sectors are open for you.
• if you are looking to earn more money have a good command on petroleum geology.
