Geologist: The SuperHero

Superheroes have there own power, their costumes, they have unique gadgets which makes them extraordinary, they serve for the world, they help people  and many more things which makes them super heroes.

Geologist is also a superhero in his own field. In costume we wear a comfortable tan protector full sleeves T-shirt, pants, cap and sample bag. We do have our own gadgets, we have Brunton compass, geological hammer, field notebook, Camera, Binoculars, etc. We serve for entire word by informing them what is happening in and on our earth, Our knowledge is used in predicting disasters like earthquake, tsunami .Our prediction plays a major role in choosing the site for Engineering projects like Dams, bridges, tunnel etc. Some part of worlds economy is depend on us, Our knowledge can predict the economical mineral in the particular area. There is water scarcity in the entire globe, a Geologist is the one who can predict the availability of water and suggest you the better site for bore well, in this way we help people. 

So a Geologist have passed all the qualities Superhero😀. There are lot more things that the geologist does which can not be covered in a single blog. 

Our mission starts when we are on our fieldwork. There are some  essentials by which a fieldwork can can not be complete. They are must during the fieldwork. They are given below,

A Brunton Compass

This is very important tool during the fieldwork. It is not a simple compass which only shows just the direction, it also gives us knowledge about dip an strike direction of bed. Our professor always tells us, "If you can use a Brunton compass then you have become 65% of geologist already". If you went to your fieldwork, make sure you become a pro in using it.

Tip for student- In the fieldwork if you still have doubt in using Brunton, immediately ask  professor, ask until your doubt isn't clear. There are plenty of YouTube videos for it, watch any and clear your doubts.   

Geological Hammer

A geological hammer is a identity of a geologist, it is used to break the rock and collect your sample. It is also used as a scale. We take the sample with us for the further laboratory study

Field Diary

Field Diary is very important for geologist. No one understand the importance more than a Geologist. We have to maintain a field diary, by further reading this diary we know what actually  happened in the site, Field report is also made on the basis of geological diary.

Sample Bag

When we go to fieldwork we collect samples. We collect samples in the sample bag. Sample is a small portion of rock, mineral and ore body which represents the entire area of the site. There are different method of sampling. sampling bag is very important to carry all samples along with us.
